I carry the weight of our ancestors’ struggles in my heart. For centuries, they endured the brutality of the transatlantic slave trade—millions torn from our motherland, their labor stolen to enrich foreign empires. Then came colonization, when European powers carved up Africa, erasing our indigenous systems and imposing their rule. The 1884 -1885 Berlin Conference was the ultimate betrayal, slicing our continent into artificial borders with no regard for our traditions or dreams. Yet, from this pain, our people rose. Our independence movements reclaimed our sovereignty, and now, we stand at the threshold of a new era. I believe our shared history of resistance is our greatest strength, calling us to honor our past by building a future where every African thrives.
